Geocortex IMF Editing Suite allows organizations to gather spatial knowledge from non-specialist GIS users in a safe, robust, and efficient manner.
The purpose of this demonstration site is to give GIS decision-makers a sense of the capabilities offered by this toolkit.
For actual end-users that have limited or no GIS knowledge, we do not advocate presenting these editing tools in the form they appear on this site. While they can be presented as a web-GIS interface, these tools are actually designed to be independent and modular. They are intended to be implemented in a process-based way, as part of a step-by-step business process that doesn't require any previous knowledge of GIS concepts.
Though we certainly offer some powerful editing capabilities, our objective isn't to replicate desktop GIS software used by GIS professionals. Instead, our core objective is to provide GIS tools in a form that can be used by non-specialist users. By providing an interface through which users can contribute geographic knowledge, ordinary people with geographic information of value can become an integral part of an overall Geographic Information System strategy.
Likewise, this demonstration site also doesn't attempt to showcase the comprehensive backbone components (e.g. version management, QA/QC processes, and security model) that facilitate proper enterprise-level integration of this product in the real-world.
